Driveway Concrete Supply in Flushing, NY: The Right Mix for a Driveway That Lasts

A driveway that cracks or spalls in three winters wasn't poured with the wrong labor. It was poured with the wrong concrete.

🧱 Consistent Concrete Quality 🚚 On-Time Delivery 🤝 Supplier & Contractor Expertise 📍 Locally Owned & Operated

A concrete driveway in Queens has to handle vehicle traffic, road salt, repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and decades of use. The mix that goes in on pour day is the biggest single factor in how long it holds up. We supply durable, air-entrained driveway concrete batched to the right PSI for your application and delivered to your site across the boroughs. Call (718) 939-3245 for a free estimate.

If you're replacing an old driveway, extending an existing one, or pouring new, the concrete has to be spec'd for vehicle load and outdoor exposure. Standard residential driveways typically call for 3,000 to 4,000 PSI. Driveways that see heavier vehicles, trucks, or commercial traffic are better served by 4,000 PSI and above. The American Concrete Institute recommends an air-entrained mix with a maximum 0.45 water-to-cement ratio for driveways exposed to freeze-thaw cycles and de-icing chemicals. In Queens and throughout NYC, that applies to every outdoor driveway pour.

Using a mix that's too weak or not air-entrained for outdoor exposure is the direct cause of surface spalling and premature cracking. Once the damage starts, there's no fix short of replacement.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Most residential driveways perform well with a 3,000 to 4,000 PSI mix. If the driveway will see heavy vehicles, trucks, or delivery equipment regularly, 4,000 PSI is the safer spec. The more important factor for NYC's climate is that the mix is air-entrained to resist freeze-thaw damage. We supply air-entrained driveway mixes and can advise on PSI when you call.

  • Air entrainment adds microscopic air voids to the mix that give water somewhere to expand when it freezes. Without it, repeated freeze-thaw cycles force moisture into the slab's surface and cause spalling over time. Queens and the rest of NYC experience full winter freeze-thaw conditions, so air entrainment is standard for any outdoor flatwork, not optional.

  • Generally, you can drive a passenger vehicle on a new concrete driveway after about seven days, when the concrete has reached roughly 70% of its design strength. Full cure takes about 28 days. Heavy vehicles and trucks should wait the full 28 days. Driving on concrete too soon causes surface damage and edge cracking that won't be repairable without replacement.

  • Volume is calculated from length, width, and thickness in feet, divided by 27 to convert to cubic yards. A standard residential driveway slab is typically 4 inches thick. Call (718) 939-3245 with your dimensions and we'll work out the yardage, plus a small buffer to account for uneven subbase.

  • Yes. Urban site access, narrow driveways, and limited staging space are routine delivery conditions for us across the boroughs. If a standard chute delivery won't reach your pour location, we have pumping options. Tell us your site layout when you order and we'll plan the delivery accordingly.
